A kind hearted squad of tractor drivers brought delight to Saddleworth villagers and raised a stunning £1,118.35 for Saddleworth Riding for the Disabled on a dedicated tractor run on Friday.
More than 20 machines of different size and shapes, some with colourful bunting, travelled in convoy through Dobcross, Delph, Denshaw, Scouthead, Lydgate, Mossley and Uppermill before returning triumphant to their base at The Diggle Hotel, Diggle.
Speaking after the Saddleworth Tractor Group Run, Alison Pickering, group chair of the Diggle-based charity, said: "Saddleworth Riding for the Disabled Volunteers, supporters and RDA ponies Twinkle and Dylan watched the tractors assemble at the Diggle Hotel this morning
"Volunteers followed the tractor route collecting donations at pubs and high streets along the way and there was a raffle of Saddleworth Tractor Group merchandise when everyone returned to the hotel.
"Every penny raised will be used to purchase riding clothing, footwear, gloves and hats for disabled children and young people to use at the charity.”
She added: "We’re just checking the final totals as some parents wanted to donate via BACS or Just Giving but so far we’ve raised a very impressive £1,118.35."
