A new all-day cafe will be serving up coffee and pastries to commuters in Oldham.
Go Coffee by Westwood tram stop will become the first cafe in the area after receiving planning permission from Oldham Council.
The former office on Middleton Road will be transformed into a coffee house aimed at busy people on their way to work, local healthcare workers, students and visitors to the nearby medical centre, according to a planning statement.
The applicant, Mohammed Mufti Miah, who has worked in hospitality and food for over 20 years, promises to deliver a ‘welcoming’ atmosphere and a wide selection of drinks and snacks, including doughnuts, pastries and sandwiches.
The cafe will open from 7am to 10pm to ‘allign with the needs of morning commuters as well as evening travellers’.
Its pitch is ‘efficient and comfortable’ with some indoor seating and a takeaway counter for ‘quick, convenient stop’ for those in the morning rush.
A planning document read: “The proposed café, Go Coffee, will bring a high-quality, locally focused amenity to 166 Middleton Road.
"With its proximity to the Westwood tram stop and the applicant’s extensive experience in the food industry, the café is well-positioned to meet the needs of students and professionals travelling to and from Manchester.”
The application was granted in full under the conditions that a plan is developed to address fumes and odours and the upstairs flat is protected from noise.
