Ian Brett, President of Rotary Saddleworth, presented a cheque for £280 to Mike Butterworth, chair of the Family and Friends of Oldham Music Centre, to support the centre’s upcoming tour to Belgium.

The tour leaves for Belgium with 75 young people and eight staff on July 20, travelling by coach to the Wallonia region, arriving for dinner later the same day.

There are to be three concerts, the first taking place to celebrate Belgium’s national day in the town square at Wavre.

Other concerts later in the week will take place at Nivelles and Verviers.

Excursions will take in Adolphe Sax’s birthplace at Dinant as well as a river cruise, cable car ride and a visit to a theme park over the border in Germany.

The Family and Friends of Oldham Music Centre is supporting families and reducing the cost of the trip significantly as a result of their fund-raising efforts and iis extremely grateful for this donation from Saddleworth Rotary Club.
