Wellies at the ready for tree planting day in Chadderton

A charity which aims to plant three million trees across Greater Manchester within five years is holding a tree planting day in Chadderton.

City of Trees is delivering a green recovery and tackling climate change head-on, but planting trees and restoring woodlands for the people and wildlife of Greater Manchester.

The organisation arranges a number of activities, based around planting trees, creating urban orchards, working with schools and children, and creating 'green streets' by planting trees in urban environments.

The charity has organised a tree planting day at Crossley Playing Fields, Fold Green in Chadderton on Friday 1 April to continue their campaign.

The event runs from 10am until 2pm.  

All tools and equipment will be provided including spades, but you're advised to wear clothes you are happy to get a little muddy, as well as sturdy footwear like wellies.

Parking is available in car park behind San Rocco restaurant off Fold Green, a short walk away from the planting area.
