Sixteen is the magic number for Ibrahim

A serial Oldham fundraiser has launched a new challenge to raise money for Maggies Cancer Centre in the town.

Ibrahim Yousaf, from Coppice, was awarded a British Empire Medal award in 2020 for his charity work in Oldham.

Despite his own serious health condition, Ibby works tirelessly to raise money for eleven charities across the borough, including Maggies.

Now, as Ibby hits his sixteenth year, he's aiming to raise £1616 for the charity in just sixteen days.

"I'd love for you to join us & help Maggie’s Oldham, by choosing a activity involving the number16 for16 days or doing something for 1 day involving the number 16." says Ibby.

He's full of ideas on how to get involved.

"You can do a mile a day for 16 days either running, walking, or cycling. If you're an enthusiastic baker, bake 16 cakes, or  if you're a musician, perform 16 songs.

"If you're a footie fan you could tell us the best 16 goals you’ve seen or name a player everyday the best 16 players that played for Latics or the team you support.

"You could do 16 squats or sit ups a day to help get fit, or list 16 places you visited or to visit in Oldham.

"If your a local business 16 facts about your business.  Anything you can do to help us raise awareness & funds for Maggie’s Oldham."

Maggies in Oldham opened in 2017 to provide a innovative and reassuring environment to provide support and advice for those fighting cancer and their families.

Ibby says it's a well-deserved cause.

"Cancer can affect any of us. It doesn’t look at our race, religion, or age.  A diagnosis is often devastating but Maggie’s is here to help offering practical & emotional support. They are based opposite the Victoria unit at The Royal Oldham Hospital."
