Budding artists wanted for new exhibition in Lees

Date published: 22 March 2022

Budding artists in Oldham are being given the chance to exhibit their work as part of a planned exhibition at Lees Library in Oldham.

Locally born artist, Louis Forristal, is curating the free art exhibition on Friday 27th and Saturday 28th of May and is offering new artists and art students the opportunity to exhibit their work.

Anyone can take part and no prior experience is necessary.  The theme of the exhibition is Covid Creations and Louis will be displaying her own work, looking at the impact of Covid on people’s mental health.

Louis said: "I’m looking for artworks that people have created over the Covid period that either helped them to get through the various lockdowns, or are reflective of the impact that the pandemic has had on them, their communities or people that they love.

"Perhaps it’s a sculpture that represents a feeling, or a painting to remember a loved one, or maybe a drawing that made you smile. It’s been such a difficult couple of years for so many of us, I’m keen to bring people together to share the positive that has come out of it.

"You don’t need to be an accomplished artist; this could be the first time you have shared your work. I’m keen to enjoy seeing your creations and hearing your story and you might enjoy telling it."

If you would like to exhibit your work free of charge, please send an email with a photo of your artwork & a paragraph about it to: covid.creations.exhibition@gmail.com

All works will be insured for transport and for the duration of the exhibition.
