Holly heads for boot camp

A CHADDERTON student is hoping she has “The X Factor” as she heads to Miami this weekend.

Former Oasis Academy student Holly Repton (16) wowed the judges on the hit ITV1 show to beat off stiff competition to make it into the final 32 — and a place at boot camp.

The talented teenager, who secured her place as one of the final eight in the girls category despite limited television coverage, is hoping to stun mentor Kelly Rowland and become one of the 16 “X Factor” finalists.

This weekend, ITV will show her heading to the Miami house of Rowland, the former Destiny’s Child singer, to fight for a spot in the final line-up.

Only two months ago, Holly featured in the Evening Chronicle’s GCSE coverage after scooping five Cs and a distinction in dance, and had planned to go to college to study performing arts.

At the time she said: “Singing, dancing and acting is all I have ever wanted to do.”

But her education might be on hold if she manages to make it through.

Cheering her on will be the head teacher and students of her former school.

Sir Iain Hall, Oasis Academy Oldham principal, said: “All the staff and students wish Holly the best of luck in her ‘X Factor’ auditions and congratulations on getting to the next stage.

“Holly was a natural performer and took part in most of the academy productions, were she always excelled.

“Let’s hope Holly can get through to the final, we are all so proud of her!”
