GP arrest over indecent images

A FAILSWORTH GP has been arrested on suspicion of possessing and distributing indecent images.

Dr David Stuart McMaster, a GP at Quayside Medical Practice, Ashton Road West, was arrested following a probe by Cheshire Police. He has since been bailed while further investigations are carried out, and has been suspended.

The General Medical Council has confirmed McMaster may not practise as a doctor in the UK while the investigation continues.

McMaster (49), from Lymm, was also the clinical director of non-elective care at Oldham Clinical Commissioning Group’s board, a position he no longer holds.

A spokesman from NHS England, Greater Manchester, said: “We are currently liaising with the practice to ensure services for patients are fully maintained.”

A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: “Following an investigation a 49-year-old man from Lymm was arrested on suspicion of possessing and distributing indecent images. He has since been bailed. Enquiries are continuing.

McMaster has been a GP for 25 years with his interests including acupuncture, dermatology and musculo skeletal. He joined the Commissioning for Oldham Group, now the CCG, in 2009.
