Nothing beats a pint after an evening cycle
Professional about cycling, David Wheeler cycles 30 miles a week and is a member of Saddleworth Clarion Cycling Club
Although we have the dark nights there is still nothing that beats an evening ride followed by a drink in the pub at the end or at half way. One thing we are blessed in the Oldham area is good pubs on a winters evening.
Church Inn – Chadderton Fold
A long-time favourite pub, good food as well as good beer. Place to leave the bikes and if the weather is dry, you can sit outside.
Woodhouse Gardens – Woodhouses
After a ride round Daisy Nook the Woodhouse Gardens is a great place to recover and swap stories. Great range of drinks a J.W Lees beer.
Bulls Head – Waterhead
Always had a good welcome here, place to leave the bike in the Beer Garden never seem to mind wet feet and always a good conversation from the bar.
Church Inn – Uppermill
Wonderful range of home brewed beers and fine food as well Julian Taylor is one of the areas longest serving landlords so he knows how to run a pub. Often a fire on too, to warm you up. If the Church Inn is busy the Cross Keys near by is an ideal alternative.
There are other Pubs available!
Merry Christmas🎅🎅
On a sad note, always make sure that you have your bike lock with you. There are people who will relive you of your prized possessions if you leave them unattended.
The dark nights are with us now so ensure you have your lights and wear clothes so you can be seen.
Safe riding to all and give fellow cyclists a wave.
