'As you were' at the top as Roughyeds stay fifth

Date published: 03 September 2018

Matty Wilkinson scored a brace of tries and set up a few more in Oldham's 58-6 win against Coventry Bears at the Vestacare Stadium.

The win kept Roughyeds in fifth place (the last play-off spot), but of the top seven clubs only Workington Town failed to win so its very much 'as you were' in the upper reaches of the Betfred League 1 table.

Doncaster have gone above Workington to third, but Oldham and Hunslet are locked on the same number of points with only three games remaining.

Two of the three for Roughyeds are against the top two, York City Knights and Bradford Bulls.

Two-try dummy-half Wilkinson was a deserving man-of-the-match winner, while other Oldham tries were scored by Jack Holmes (two), Craig Briscoe, Danny Langtree (two), Luke Hooley, Ben West and Phil Joy,

Paul Crook kicked seven conversions out of eight attempts and Hooley kicked two from two near the end.
