Naylor hoping to add to his squad

Oldham coach Scott Naylor hasn't given up hope of strengthening his squad before today's 5pm signing deadline.

"We are in touch with a few clubs and a few people and we're hoping to do something in time," said the Roughyeds boss.

Oldham go to Doncaster on Sunday (3pm) knowing they have to come to terms with the loss of second-row man Danny Bridge, who won't play again this season because of his ninth-month suspension.

The good news is that injuries are clearing to the extent that only one player, Adam Jones, didn't train last night.

He's currently recovering from a back injury sustained at work.

Danny Langtree took a new knock near the end of his stunning, four-try comeback after a hamstring injury in the 50-6 win against North Wales Crusaders.

Naylor was upbeat and optimistic, however, about his chances for weekend.

He also confirmed that long-standing injury victims Adam Neal (concussion) and Kenny Hughes (ankle) would be ready to resume soon.

Front-row forward Neal has been out for three months, but he has now passed all his head-injury protocol tests and is on the verge of stepping back into the arena.

Said Naylor: "He's as close as he can be now. The final decision will rest with Adam.

"He won't play at Doncaster, but he's got every chance for next week or the week after that.

"As for Kenny, he trained last night and he's also getting close."
