Wild, Priest and Clarke all linked with Oldham manager’s job

For the second time this season, academy manager and Oldham Athletic fan Pete Wild has been handed the reins in a care-taker role, however bookies are offering him as third favourite to take over fulltime at Boundary Park.

Ahead of him in the pecking order is Paul Scholes’ assistant manager Mick Priest with current club captain Peter Clarke down as fourth favourite.

However ahead of all according to the bookies is current Stevenage manager Dino Maamria, who has moved out to favourite despite meaning Oldham would have to pay compensation to secure his services and force the move from Broadhall Way.

Currently Stevenage sit five places above Latics in the League Two table.

Other names being linked with the job at Boundary Park include John Askey despite him taking over at Port Vale about six weeks ago.

Former Bradford City boss David Hopkins is another one thought to be in the frame along with Paul Hurst, Russell Slade and former Peterborough United manager Steve Evans.
