Scholes not changing playing style despite late goals

Latics have dropped points in three of those games, throwing away winning positions against Crewe Alexandra and last weekend at home to Stevenage.

They also conceded late at home to Morecambe which would’ve seen them claim a point in a 1-1 draw had Aaron Collins not found the back of the net in the 90th minute.

Next up is a trip to Cambridge United for Paul Scholes’ men with the manager saying he’s not willing to change his attacking style of football to try and stop them shipping goals.

“It’s just not the way I am, I want to see my team play football and try and score goals. At some point there might come a point when I have to sacrifice that for actually winning games which is the most important thing and something we need to start doing.”

Since coming into the club, the former Manchester United midfielder has taken charge of five games, only winning once at home to Yeovil, drawing twice against Crewe and Stevenage and suffering two defeats at Bury and at home to Morecambe in the process.

They now travel to a Cambridge United side who are 19th in the League Two table, nine points above the relegation zone and eight points below Oldham Athletic.
