Werneth Primary School updates its core values

The core values aim to shape the Werneth Primary curriculum and school community
Werneth Primary School has announced its new core values, three simple words - Care, Aspire and Persevere.
The core values aim to shape the curriculum and school community, promoting a positive learning environment.
The school values give pupils a well rounded set of skills, experience and knowledge, while instilling confidence and a sense of responsibility.
The school community aims to develop community care, understanding and aspiration through the day to day modelling of the simple, yet powerful, ethos and values.
A school statement read: "We are a caring school community, where children show care for themselves and all other children, staff and the wider community; where staff embody our school values; and parents are treated as partners.
"It is important that our children learn to care for themselves and that of everyone else, regardless of differences, such as; culture, faith and disability.
"We are all part of the same community and it is important to care for one another.
"We are an aspirational school community where children, staff and families have the highest expectations for themselves and others, where children develop the knowledge and cultural capital to succeed in later life.
"Where children set personal goals and achieve personal bests.
"We aspire for our children to achieve well, to perform brilliantly at school, allowing themselves to move on to fantastic lives.
"We aim for our personal best and as long as we have tried our best, we know we have achieved.
"We are a persevering school community, where children develop the personal and academic skills to overcome barriers and can respond to setbacks.
"Children’s confidence and talents flourish as they embrace challenges and continue to thrive in school and day-to-day life.
"We accept and enjoy difficult challenges and show resilience in our behaviour, so that we can achieve our goals."
Werneth Primary school hopes to build upon a history of care, aspiration and perseverance, as highlighted by its alumni.
Past Werneth pupils’ success shows that we can all achieve through dedication and aspiration.
Former England footballer, David Platt, actor David Hounslow (Coronation Street) and composer Sir William Walton show that the current children are part of a proud lineage of pupils who strive and achieve.
Jonathan Bell, Principal at Werneth Primary, said: “At Werneth Primary School, we pride ourselves on developing the whole child.
"We aim to provide a curriculum that enables our children to excel academically, teaches children how to learn effectively and develops their sense of contributing to the local, national and international community.
"We teach our children that is important to show that you care for others around you, that they should aspire to be the best person and learning that they can be and give our children the personal skills needed to persevere when they face challenges in education and in their life outside of school.
"We know that our school has a rich history and we would love to create a 'Hall of Fame', containing Werneth Primary School alumni, to inspire the current generation of children to care, aspire and persevere.”
