Oldham families set to enjoy ‘spooktacular’ Halloween trail
Date published: 12 October 2023
From October 21 to November 4, families can enjoy a great free day out with an augmented reality story trail across Oldham town centre
As part of plans to provide families with lots of free Halloween fun this year, Oldham Council has teamed up with High Street Safari to run a special trail in the town centre.
From October 21 to November 4, families can enjoy a great free day out with an augmented reality story trail across Oldham town centre.
This futuristic experience will give players the perfect day out during the half-term holiday and enable anyone with a smartphone to take part.
You can hunt down Halloween masks along the route, like witches, mummies, ghosts and ghouls, and there are even chances to win some amazing prizes.
At each ‘stop’, players can see the full characters from the masks, burst to life through their phones using the app – and you’re encouraged to take as many selfies as you can.
Cllr Peter Dean, Cabinet Member for Culture and Communities, said: “We wanted to put on this free event to give families something exciting to do over the half-term, get the kids out of the house and get the chance to win some prizes
“Not everyone has spare cash to spend, so the more we can do to help provide some free events, the better in my opinion.
“This is just one of the events as part of our Halloween activities, which will be followed by the annual Big Bang Bonfire."
The trail can either be completed in one or across several trips and is completely free for families and groups to take part in.
At the end those taking part win a free, digital fun pack, plus they can enter the prize draw to win lots of prizes.
The trail works without the need for families to download or sign up for anything and works on any smart device.
The activity runs from October 21 - November 4 and is open any time.
Before going on the trail, please visit the High Street Safari website: https://highstreetsafari.com/Oldham, check out the trail map, then you just need to visit each of the locations and scan the unique QR codes with your smartphone.
Then when you’ve found them all, download your free digital fun pack and then enter the prize draw for your chance to win.
