Over 30 voluntary organisations will be heading to Oldham town centre next week to highlight their work, and look for new volunteers.
The Volunteer Fair is hosted by Action Together’s Volunteering Team, and groups Mahdlo Youth Zone, Medical Detection Dogs, Oldham Coliseum Theatre, Dad Matters, and Oldham Community Radio will be taking part.
Rich Jones, Operations Manager, Action Together says it's a day to discover more about many organisations.
“Many of the groups we work with rely on volunteers to provide essential services. We’re really grateful that VCFSE organisations find our Volunteer Team, and the events they host, a useful resource to not only help recruit volunteers, but to spread the message about all the fantastic work they do across the borough.”
During the day, visitors can find out how these organisations are making a difference in the community and there is a chance to ask questions about volunteering.
Megan Johnson of Action Together says it could be an eye-opening experience. "It's a day to discover exciting opportunities for you to get involved, make a difference, and boost your CV.
"Volunteering is an amazing way to connect with others and feel part of a team, whilst giving back to your community at the same time."
"The Volunteer Fair is the perfect opportunity for anyone looking for a way to fill their spare time, looking for groups and organisations who are working to improve communities across Oldham, or for those who want to find out more about Action Together or one of the many organisations who will be attending."
