Staff from Oldham and Rochdale ambulance stations will go head-to-head at the Vestacare Stadium
Staff from Oldham and Rochdale ambulance stations will go head-to-head in a charity football match this Saturday (July 28).
Kicking off at 12 noon, the match - at the Vestacara Stadium in Limeside - will be bookended by all manner of activities for the family.
There will be a children’s disco, face painting, raffles and tombolas, not to mention the chance to face down the Pandamedic in a penalty shoot-out.
Bouncy castle and prizes aplenty make this a great chance to enjoy the sun and fundraise for the North West Air Ambulance at the same time.
The North West Air Ambulance Service receives no government funding and is entirely dependent on charitable donations.
Their service involves taking healthcare to the scene where they reach, treat and transfer to treatment centres patients in need of lifesaving care.
Founded in 1999, the Air Ambulance charity runs three helicopters crewed with pilots, paramedics and doctors trained to give pre-hospital care.
Since April 2018, they have carried out 102 missions in Lancashire alone.
Liz Greenwood, a member of the charity’s fundraising team, said: “We only survive because of the generosity of the people supporting us.
“We wouldn’t be here without groups like the Rochdale and Oldham ambulance stations.
“We have to raise over eight million pounds per year so events like this are absolutely vital to keep us flying and saving lives.
“There are lots of activities and it should be a great day.
“We will be there on the day so if people want to find out more they can pop in and say hello!”
This family fun day will be one of many fundraising activities for the worthwhile cause this summer.
Tickets are £5 for adults and £3 for under-16s.
There will be food available and a bar open throughout the day.
More details about the event can be found on the dedicated Facebook page, and about the charity from their website at: https://nwaa.net/.
