Agreed mobile phone sale was never paid for

Date published: 24 February 2025

Police officers are appealing for information after a phone was exchanged in-person, but allegedly without the appropriate payment exchange being made.

In November, a woman advertised a mobile phone on social media, before soon agreeing to a price of £700 with a man.

He picked up the phone from a property in Chadderton, and claimed to have transferred the money through a banking app, but this has not occurred.

Officers investigating the incident have now released a photo of a man they would like to speak to, as it is believed he could help with their enquiries.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police via 101 or the GMP Live Chat service here, quoting log 1132 of 20/11/24.

Alternatively, you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
