A campaign has been launched to raise £7,000 towards the much-needed repair of St Thomas’ Window at Heights Chapel in Friarmere, near Delph.

This historic chapel was once the cornerstone of the community, and the window, a beautiful and significant feature, has suffered from damage recently, due mainly to the it’s exposed hillside position and old age.

It has been featured and background to many famous films, including “A Monster Calls” starring Liam Neeson, Sigourney Weaver, Felicity Jones and Lewis MacDougall, and the classic Jamaica Inn.

The Churches Conservation Trust say repairs will restore its integrity, preserving both its artistic value and its position in the spiritual and cultural history of the area.

The funds raised will be used to carefully repair and restore the window, ensuring it continues to be a symbol of heritage for generations to come.

The restoration will be performed by skilled craftsmen who specialise in historic glass, ensuring work is carried out with utmost care and respect for the chapel's history.

The trust are inviting the community, local supporters, and anyone who values cultural heritage, to contribute to this campaign.

Every donation, no matter the size, will bring the trust closer to their goal and help protect a piece of local history at the church which celebrated it’s 250th anniversary in June, 2018.
