Date published: 20 January 2025

Dare to Know Theatre, a dynamic local company founded in 2020 by Oldhamers Miranda Parker and Jake Talbot, has announced its next exciting community project.

This initiative is designed to create a brand-new piece of writing with, for, and about the people of Oldham - and it’s completely free to join.

The project aims to bring together individuals in Oldham from all walks of life to collaborate on a unique theatrical experience.

Whether you’re an experienced performer, a budding writer, a backstage enthusiast, or someone who has never stepped foot on a stage before, this is your chance to get involved.

No prior experience is necessary - just a willingness to be part of something special.

The first meeting will be held at Billingtons, Oldham Centre on Thursday (January 23), with weekly sessions continuing every Tuesday until the performance dates on May 9 and 10 at the Shaw Playhouse.

Who can join?

Anyone over the age of 18.

What roles are available?

Actors, writers, directors, and backstage crew.

When and where?

The first meeting is at Billingtons on Thursday, January 23, with sessions every Tuesday, at the Cotton Rooms thereafter leading up to the performance at Shaw Playhouse.

Dare to Know Theatre has a passion for creating meaningful work that reflects and uplifts the local community.

Since its inception, the company has championed creative projects that give voice to the people of Oldham.

This upcoming production is an exciting opportunity to not only celebrate the rich talent within the community, but also to foster new connections and share powerful stories on stage.

“This project is all about bringing people together to create something extraordinary. Whether you’ve acted before or you’re just curious about theatre, there’s a place for you here,” says co-founder Miranda.

“We’re looking forward to seeing new faces and hearing new voices as we build this production together.”

Spaces are limited, so early participation is encouraged.
