Studio OL3, a renowned architectural firm based in Oldham, has unveiled the Studio OL3 Scholarship for Computer Science.

This new initiative will support a Year 7 pupil at Hulme Grammar School throughout their senior school education, equipping them with the resources and opportunities to excel in the dynamic world of computer science and technology.

The scholarship will provide funding for memberships, subscriptions, cutting-edge equipment, and unique, tailored experiences aligned with the recipient’s passions, ambitions, and career aspirations.

Hulme Grammar School has long been a hub for STEM excellence, producing remarkable thought leaders such as renowned physicist Professor Brian Cox, pioneering psychiatrist Dame Susan Bailey, and world-renowned surgeon and humanitarian Dr David Nott.

The school has a proud reputation for educating young people in Oldham and the North West, empowering them to achieve extraordinary things on a global stage.

Craig Devenport, founder of Studio OL3, created the scholarship to help young people access opportunities he never had.

Reflecting on this personal motivation, he said: "Growing up, I didn’t have access to initiatives like this, and I know how transformative they can be.

"My goal is to inspire the next generation to pursue their dreams and equip them with the skills and experiences to succeed.

"Computer science and technology are driving our future, and I’m proud to support a young person from our community in this exciting field."

Stephen Norbury, Head of Computer Science at Hulme Grammar School, added: "Hulme Grammar has a tradition of nurturing talented young people who go on to shape the world.

"This scholarship is a fantastic example of how local businesses can partner with us to inspire and empower the next generation.

"We are incredibly grateful to Craig and the team at Studio OL3 for their generosity and vision."

This initiative highlights the power of collaboration between education and industry to raise aspirations and create opportunities for young people in Oldham and beyond.
