Saddleworth Rotary Club honoured their President Clint Elliott with a Paul Harris Fellowship - the highest award bestowed by Rotary.
The award, presented at the White Hart at Lydgate, acknowledges outstanding service to Rotary and the community.
Former President John Ainley highlighted Clint’s many achievements including the Queen's Police Medal for 35 years service both in the Cleveland Force and Police Federation.
After retirement he moved to Saddleworth in 2005.
John said: "Clint has held most positions in the club and has worked tirelessly on the Summer Show and Wellifest.
"He is a long-standing trustee at Age UK Oldham and a mentor at Mahdlo Youth Zone."
John added: "Clint epitomises the Rotary motto Service above Self in every way."
Said Clint: "it is a great honour to received such a prestigious Rotary award from the Club.
"I have very much enjoyed my time as a member of the Saddleworth Rotary Club over the previous 10 years and acknowledge that the Club has a proud tradition of community involvement and support for charitable causes stretching back over more than 50 years.
"It has been both challenging at times but an enjoyable experience using the skills I have gained over my working years to help to continue with those Rotary aims together with other Club members and on many occasions local volunteers.”
He added: "I suppose going forward the big challenge for Rotary in Saddleworth is to continue to achieve the levels of success both with raising funds through public events such as the Saddleworth Show and continued community engagement and support.
"I am sure that there must be others out there in the Saddleworth area, who would welcome the chance to use their time and experience to help out in the future and the Club would be happy to provide that opportunity.”
