Beal Vale Primary takes a giant leap into digital learning with iPads for key stage 2 pupils

Date published: 06 December 2024

In an exciting and innovative move, Beal Vale Primary School in Shaw has announced that every child in Key Stage 2 will receive an iPad to support their learning starting in January 2025.

This ambitious initiative, part of the school’s commitment to enhancing digital literacy, is being rolled out in collaboration with the Crompton House Multi-Academy Trust, of which the school is a proud member.

The announcement of the Beal Vale Interactivity Programme (BVIP) has sparked excitement among pupils, parents, and teachers alike.

For the children, the prospect of having their very own device opens up a world of interactive learning and creative possibilities.

For staff, it marks a major milestone in modernising classroom education and preparing students for a technology-driven future.

Greg Ball, Head Teacher of Beal Vale Primary School, said: “This is a transformative step for our school and our students.

"By equipping every Key Stage 2 child with an iPad, we are empowering them to take control of their learning in a dynamic and engaging way.

"The devices will not only enhance traditional classroom teaching but also provide access to a wealth of online resources and apps that will inspire creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking.”

The initiative aligns closely with the Crompton House Multi-Academy Trust’s vision of providing world-class educational opportunities for every student.

The Trust has supported Beal Vale in making this ambitious vision a reality, ensuring that the rollout is supported by robust training for staff and access to high-quality digital tools for learning.

Students at the school are already buzzing with excitement.

Year 5 pupil Reva said: “I can’t wait to use an iPad for my lessons!

"It’s going to be so fun to learn in new ways and try out apps that make maths and writing more exciting.”

Her classmate Elliott added: “I’m looking forward to making my own presentations and learning about things like coding.”

Parents have also welcomed the move, appreciating the way the iPads will bridge the gap between traditional learning and the digital skills needed for the future.

One parent remarked: “This is such an impressive step for the school.

"It’s fantastic to see Beal Vale leading the way in giving our children the tools they’ll need for success in the modern world.”

The devices will be integrated into lessons across subjects, from supporting research in history projects to interactive maths games and creative writing activities.

Teachers have undergone dedicated training to ensure the technology is seamlessly woven into the curriculum.

The program will also place a strong emphasis on online safety, ensuring that students are equipped with the knowledge and skills to navigate the digital world responsibly and securely.

As January approaches, the countdown is on for what promises to be a new era of education at Beal Vale Primary School.
