New Rishworth School Head Mrs Jessica Sheldrick
A new era has begun at Rishworth School as it has welcomed its first female Head since being founded 300 years ago.
For three centuries, Rishworth School has been committed to delivering an inspiring education providing ample opportunities for students across the country and globe.
Led previously by outstanding male Heads, the School now moves into a new era welcoming the first female Head in its 300th Year, Mrs Jessica Sheldrick.
Mrs Sheldrick has held several positions during her 22 years at the Rishworth and has been pivotal to the school’s development.
She embraces the school’s ethos and values at her core and encourages all students to ‘’foster a deep love of learning’’.
Mrs Sheldrick is incredibly proud of the schools’ curriculum, stating “the curriculum is thoughtfully designed to be exciting, challenging, and innovative, tailored to meet the unique needs of each student”, which is reflected in the school’s outstanding results in public examinations, allowing students to progress to their first-choice destinations.
Imaginations thrive throughout Rishworth, with a well-deserved reputation for nurturing the creative and performing arts, with every student benefiting from specialist teaching, right from the nursery onwards.
Staff are also proud to be recognised as one of the leading schools in the region for sports, offering a wide range of scholarships every year, students flourish with international standard coaching.
This extends to its boarding community, with a new staff team joining them this academic year.
International students can explore their new home country through trips and activities, grow confidence and independence whilst studying away from home, and become part of a warm, diverse and accepting community.
Mrs Sheldrick is looking forward to the year ahead and celebrating the school’s 300th year with the opening of a new Sixth Form Centre, the extended provision in the Nursery, and the Tri-centenary Ball in November.
Exciting trips to New York, Austria and Whitby are planned, academic competitions, and student development days such as careers events and PSHCE talks.
Mrs Sheldrick warmly invites prospective families looking for an exciting new adventure, full of opportunities to one of our open days which will be held on the following dates:
Saturday, September 28 - Rishworth School Senior Open Day
Saturday, October 5 - Rishworth School Nursery and Preparatory
Tuesday, November 12 - Rishworth School Sixth Form Open Evening
