Date published: 23 July 2024

E-ACT The Oldham Academy North (TOAN) has launched a new initiative this year to celebrate the efforts and achievements of its staff.

With the winners chosen by students and middle leaders, the Ambassador Awards recognise and reward outstanding teachers and support staff.

The Ambassador Awards have been designed to celebrate staff members who embody the academy’s core values of Trust, Endurance, Autonomy, and Mastery.

E-ACT TOAN’s ambassadors decided to allocate a portion of their grant to this initiative, underscoring the importance of acknowledging the hard work and dedication of the academy’s staff.

Students and middle leaders took part in the voting process, selecting winners who gone above and beyond to make exceptional contributions to the school.

The winners were then announced at a special ceremony held at the academy at the end of term.

The winners of the inaugural Ambassador Awards are:

Student Voted Awards:

Mr. S Massey (KS3 Director) – 60 votes

Mr. Rashid (Head of Year 8) – 59 votes

Mr. Shakir (Teacher - Engineering) – 55 votes

Miss Fitzhugh (Teacher – Child Development, PE, Science) – 36 votes

Middle Leader Voted Awards:

Elliot Mallam (PE Technician)

Wahid Masood (Teacher - Maths)

The winners were honoured with a special trophy and a Love2shop voucher, recognising their huge impact on the school community.

Art Teacher Esther Hill also had another big reason to celebrate – reaching the milestone of 30 years in teaching. Esther enjoyed a separate presentation to mark her special achievement.

Jessica Giraud, Headteacher at E-ACT TOAN, said: “This new initiative is a fantastic way to celebrate the dedication and hard work of our staff.

"It is wonderful to see both students and middle leaders coming together to acknowledge those who truly live and breathe our school values.

"I know those who received awards from their students have been particularly touched!

"A special thank you must go to Esther Hill for her three decades in teaching and the countless lives she has impacted in that time.

“Congratulations to all the winners, and thank you for all you do for our academy and students.”
