Thanks to the donation, which was made with the darker mornings and evenings in mind, pupils of St Mary's can journey to and from school a little safer
Pupils of St Mary's C of E Primary School in Shaw have gained a new set of hi vis vests from Miller Homes, as the builder embarks on a campaign to ensure the safety of the children local to its north west developments.
The primary school, which received the donation earlier this week, is just under a mile from Briar View, Miller Homes’ Shaw-based development.
Thanks to the donation, which was made with the darker mornings and evenings in mind, pupils of St Mary's can journey to and from school a little safer.
This is not the first contribution made of its kind.
Through its ‘HomeSafe’ initiative last year, Miller Homes supported over 10 North West primary schools with a similar donation.
This year, it will support more children in the region.
Mrs Hartley, headteacher at St Mary's, said: “We’re very grateful to Miller Homes for the vests and thank them for thinking of the safety of our children, it’s great to see a builder considering the local community in this way.”
Clare Noakes, Miller Homes’ Sales Director for the North West, added: “We’ve been donating hi vis items to local schools for many years now as we know teachers, parents and children appreciate them - they are a big help when walking to and from school in the winter.
"So, we’re delighted to be continuing with the initiative."
This is far from the first time Miller Homes has supported the Oldham community, recently awarding grants of £1000 to Henshaws Society and Perform Drama Group, two local charities.
St Mary's is based just a stone’s throw from Briar View, a Miller Homes development that offers a collection of 3-to-4-bedroom sustainable, modern homes.
