Work continues to take shape on the new Aldi store at Broadway Green in Chadderton - where up to 50 new jobs are set to be created.
Work started earlier this year on the 1,315 sqm supermarket, which will include an additional warehouse and office facilities.
Built just off the newly-created Lydia Becker Way, the store will create 40 to 50 full and part-time jobs.
Council Leader Cllr Arooj Shah recently joined members from the Aldi team for a tour of the site.
She said: "It's great to see more businesses choosing to invest in Oldham; boosting our economy, adding to the choice of retail options here, and creating new jobs for local people.
"I was really pleased to see the build of the new store progressing so quickly, and look forward to seeing it open its doors later this year."
The store, which has an investment value of £5m by Aldi, was granted planning permission in October 2022 after consultation with residents living near the site.
Stuart Parks, Real Estate Director at Aldi UK, said: “We are excited to bring an Aldi store to Broadway Green to provide Oldham residents with even better access to high-quality products at the lowest prices, and we look forward to opening our doors to customers later this year.”
Situated in a prime location, near the M62 and M60 motorways and only two miles from Oldham town centre, Broadway Green is being developed in partnership with Oldham Council, Seddon and Grasscroft Property.
The whole Broadway Green site includes a huge 600,000 sq ft of employment space, creating up to 2,000 new jobs and up to 500 new homes.
More than 230 new homes have already been built at Broadway Green, and Countryside Properties are currently on site delivering the next phase of 160 homes, including affordable homes.
As well as new homes and employment space, the scheme will also include a new park - making it a more attractive place to live and work.
