Royton Councillors Dave Arnott and Lewis Quigg joined Army Cadets and Royal British Legion volunteers at a ceremony at Royton cemetery to pay tribute to service veterans.
Members of the Royton Detachment of Greater Manchester Army Cadet Force laid a cross with a poppy motif at each of the graves of servicemen from the Royton area who made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of our country.
Royton North Councillor Arnott said: “Myself and Councillor Quigg were privileged to be invited to take party in this ceremony, which I hope will become an annual event.
"I would like to thank RBL volunteers, especially Maria Hanley and Andrew Spence who worked so hard to identify each individual grave and organise the crosses.
“I would pay tribute to the Army Cadets from the Royton Detachment who performed extremely well and are a credit to the ACF and Detachment Commander, Staff Sergeant Paul Clarke.”
