Eight members of Oldham Mountain Rescue Team were called out in the early hours, around 1am, yesterday morning (Tuesday) to assist Greater Manchester Fire Rescue Service who were working to control a moorland fire in the Dovestones area.
The callout officer made contact and established that the team was requested to help with moving personnel and equipment, and to provide local knowledge.
The team made contact with the Fire Commander at the scene and provided assistance as needed.
It was still extremely warm even at that time in the morning, with weather reports are showing that it's due to stay warm until at least the weekend.
The fire service are still investigating the cause of the fire.
The mountain rescue team were involved for three hours.
