Foster Care Associates (FCA), one of the largest fostering agency groups in the UK, launched its national photography competition in time for World Photography Day 2021.
Running for its fourth year, the annual photography competition is running throughout the entire month of August for children and young people registered with FCA, who operate in Oldham.
With this year taking the theme of ‘Dream’, the competition aims to help inspire young photographers to showcase their creativity and imagination.
This year, there are a number of Love 2 Shop voucher prizes up for grabs where the winners can cash in the prize at a number of retail shops.
All children and young people under the age of 18 will be personally invited to enter and will receive their own physical invitation to enter the competition in the post.
Divided into age categories, those with the most votes in each region of the UK will be awarded ‘Regional winner’.
The entrant with the highest overall vote count will be awarded ‘National Winner’.
John Platt, Managing Director at FCA, said: “Our annual National Photography Competition is a wonderful way to celebrate gifted individuals at FCA.
"It also presents children and young people the opportunity to showcase their creative talents whilst inspiring others to enjoy and discover a love of photography.
“We all know a picture can paint a thousand words and this competition is a fantastic way for children and young people to get creative.
"Please do encourage all children between the ages of three all the way up to 18 within your household to get snapping and good luck to all those who manage to enter the competition.”
Applicants are invited to submit their ‘Dream’ inspired photographs by September 1, 2021 at 5 pm.
Any entries outside of this date will unfortunately not be accepted.
Foster parents will need to email a high-quality file of the image alongside an entry form, which parents can access on The Exchange.
All entries will need to be of a certain quality to enable future printing quality.
Currently 56,160 children are living with nearly 44,450 foster families in England.
Each year 30,000 children enter the care system, emphasising the need for new foster families.
FCA provides foster homes and support for over 1,900 children and young people throughout the UK.
