Radio DJ legend and musician Mike Sweeney is staging an intimate preview of his 60’s Classics theatre show in an historic Saddleworth pub.
The show will take place at The Swan Inn, Dobcross, on Saturday, August 21 as a prelude to its inaugural opening at Liverpool’s famous Cavern Club on Sunday, October 31.
It will star Ray Ennis, founder member of the original Swinging Blue Jeans and the 2021 line up of The Mindbenders, with iconic hits from Merseyside, Manchester and the international stage.
And there will be a special performance of ‘The 60’s Sisters’ songs sung by Carla Lewis, Do The Hippy Hippy Shake.
Said Mike: "Around a third of tickets have already gone on word of mouth alone and of course upstairs at The Swan is a limited space.
"Doors open at 7p.m and all done by 10 p.m to take the villagers peace and quiet in to account.
"There will be two sets with an interval and we want the vibe to be informal and relaxed,” he declared.
"I wanted this preview at The Swan because of its unique space upstairs where we can re-create that ‘60’s club feel’ and as I’m with friends it will be a sort of dress rehearsal - but really chilled.
"I want to create an atmosphere where I can have a dialogue with the audience about what we’re doing on-stage.
"And for those fans of the 60’s coming from outside the area what a beautiful part of the UK Dobcross is to visit for a night out.”
He added: "Tickets for The Cavern have just gone on sale and It’s Ray Ennis’ first visit to the club for fifty five years."
Tickets for the review at The Swan are £10 each. Contact Sharon: 07377182770 for tickets and further details.
