At last! Your Oldham Evening Chronicle is back in regular print.

The Oldham Evening Chronicle has been published in Oldham since 1854

It’s been a long time coming, but it’s been confirmed that your Oldham Evening Chronicle will be rolling off the presses again, this time for good.

The newspaper moved online in  February 2018, with the printed editions ceasing after over 160 years.  Since then, we’ve printed special education editions, and annual review issues for 2019 and 2020.

Now, it’s been confirmed that the newspaper will return to print on Friday, June 25th, with regular, monthly editions.

Later this year, we plan to publish a weekly edition and then assess the feasibility of a twice-weekly edition from early 2022.

Managing Director of owners Credible Media, Matt Ramsbottom, says now is the time to begin to rebuild the print product:  “The impact of the Covid pandemic meant we had to slow down our plans for the Oldham Evening Chronicle to return to print, but as the local economy begins to emerge from the shutdown, it’s the perfect time for a regular, re-born newspaper.”

“The Chronicle is a much-loved brand in Oldham, and the success of our printed editions have been a testament to the loyalty of our readers.”

The newspaper will continue to be produced in the newsroom in Oldham, which will remain the base for the digital site at oldham-chronicle.co.uk and Oldham Business Edge magazine.  The publication will be printed by presses at Reach, based in Chadderton.

The printed edition of the Oldham Evening Chronicle will be stocked at all local supermarkets, and will be FREE to pick up.

Mr Ramsbottom says he hopes the town can get behind a truly local newspaper:  “I realise there are competitors in the market but we are Oldham born and bred, with a long history in the town.

“It will be exciting to pick up ‘the Chron’ and flick through the pages again.”
