Colleagues from the Mahdlo Youth Zone have issued an emotional tribute to CEO Mike Doran, who was lost to the Covid-19 pandemic last week.
And in particularly special tribute, Mahdlo team member and up and coming singer-songwriter Olivia Deane has recorded a version of 'Somewhere Over The Rainbow' dedicated to Mike, a video (below) described as 'a beautiful tribute to a man who will never be forgotten'.
A touching Mahdlo tribute to Mike read: "Each of us at Mahdlo Youth Zone not only grieve at the passing of a remarkable individual and the driving force behind our organisation, but also for the loss his family suffers.
"Our hearts and prayers go out to them.
"Mike was a highly thought of individual.
"An incredible man; a leader, mentor, coach, colleague and above all else a wonderful friend.
"Tributes have been pouring in since the announcement of his passing.
"Mike had such an impact on so many people.
"We have lost a dear friend and faithful colleague.
"With Mike's passing, many of us at Mahdlo, and the Oldham community, wish to express our condolences and pay tribute to Mike.
"We are gathering these messages of love, gratitude, and kindness to include in a book we are creating for Mike's family."
If you like to include a small message of your own in remembrance of Mike, please email them to: Lucy.Lees@mahdloyz.org and staff will ensure that your message is included.
On behalf of the Mike's family, Mahdlo have set up a memorial fund in his name, to commemorate a great man and a dear friend to all who knew him.
