ON THE CHARGE . . . Fitton Hill’s Eddie Aspin makes ground in search of the Chester line.
RUGBY LEAGUE:
FITTON Hill Bulldogs went down 28-12 at home to Chester in Division Six of the North-West Counties League — but the scoreline flattered the visitors.
An Eddie Aspin penalty put the hosts in front after five minutes, only for Chester to reply with a try out wide.
The Bulldogs hit back almost immediately, when good work from Wayne Swords and scrum-half Aaron Fleming allowed Chris Reagan to squeeze in at the corner.
Despite good pressure from the home side, Chester added a second try to lead 10-6 at half-time
The match could have gone either way in the second period — the rain was falling even heavier and the wind continued to blow — but it was Chester who sealed victory with three converted tries.
The Bulldogs did manage another score of their own, with man-of-the-match Aspin goaling his own effort with 10 minutes to go.
And on the evidence of this display, a second win of the season is not too far away for the Bulldogs .
