Volunteers at Oldham Foodbank are celebrating after receiving £2,000 to purchase in-demand food supplies for those in need over the Christmas period.

Warrington-based urban logistics property developer and asset manager Chancerygate and Hines, the global real estate investor, developer and manager made the donation.

The two companies are working together as a joint venture to deliver a proposed 166,500 sq ft urban logistics development at Broadway Green in Chadderton.

The money will enable Oldham Foodbank, which is run by The Trussell Trust, to purchase food and supplies which it will provide to those in need in the Oldham area in the run up to Christmas.

Staff from both Chancerygate and Hines also supported the foodbank with a volunteering day to help organise and pack food donations.

The Trussell Trust plays a pivotal role in supporting communities and churches in establishing foodbanks throughout the UK.

Oldham Foodbank is one of 428 foodbanks within The Trussell Trust's network, dedicated to tackling food poverty and hunger.

Commenting on the donation, organisational development coordinator at Oldham Foodbank, Tom Lewis Hood, said: “We are hugely appreciative of the donation from Chancerygate and Hines to support our foodbank over the Christmas period.

“Donations like this ensure that we can support people experiencing crisis in Oldham and enables us to purchase items which are seeing high demand for from those using our services.”

Chancerygate development manager, Andy Farrer, said: “The team of volunteers at Oldham Foodbank have worked incredibly hard to meet the growing demand from people in the local area for its services.

“It is a pleasure to be supporting both the foodbank and the Trussell Trust and hope that with our donation the volunteers can continue to deliver the essential services to the Oldham community.

Founded in 1995, Chancerygate is the UK’s largest urban logistics property developer and asset manager and the only one operating nationwide.

As well as Warrington, Chancerygate also has offices in London, Birmingham, Bristol and as well as in Europe in Madrid, Dublin, Libson and Paris.

Hines director, Mickey Scott, said: “It is great to be able provide Oldham Foodbank with this donation and support those in need within the local community across the Christmas period."
