Police officers are appealing for information and footage following a robbery in Sholver.
At around 5.25pm on Saturday (December 14), police were called to reports of a road traffic collision between a car and a pedestrian on Stevenson Drive.
It is believed that the pedestrian had his car stolen by a suspect who was hiding in some bushes before tackling the victim to the ground.
After taking the keys off him, the suspect made off with the car, striking the victim with his own car and being left injured in the middle of the road.
The car was found abandoned minutes later.
The victim - a man in his 70s - remains in hospital with injuries that are not described as life-threatening or life-changing.
No arrests have been made at this stage.
Detective Inspector Andrew Day, from GMP's Oldham district, said: “This is a frightening and disturbing incident where an elderly gentleman walking to his house from his car, was subjected to a pre-meditated attack, with the suspect in some bushes waiting for him.
“My team and I are determined to trace those responsible and are following up a number of lines of enquiry.
“We are appealing for any information that could assist with enquiries or any CCTV or mobile footage you may have – please get in touch with us.”
