Hodson lifts President’s prize

ALAN HODSON won the Failsworth Bowling League’s President’s Handicap, played at Royton Cricket.

Hodson, recent winner of the prestigious Oldham Evening Chronicle Handicap, defeated Charlie Roberts (Lime Street) 21-15 in the quarter-finals before booking his final place with a 21-13 win over Stanley Road’s Barry Seville).

Nimble Nook’s Bob Nisbet won through to the final with a 21-18 success over Tony Bonter (Dog & Partridge) and a 21-16 verdict over Neil Armstrong (St Paul’s).

Hodson beat Nisbet 21-14 in the final.

FINALS night in the Moorside Classic this evening (start 6.30pm) promises some top-class action when the following do battle for the top prize:

TONGE had only three winners as they slipped to defeat at Lloyds in the Manchester Premier League.

Jimmy Darby (21-16), Darren Griffiths (21-17) and Gary Ellis (21-18) were successful as Tonge lost 198 (10), 138 (4.5).

Next up for Tonge is a home game with Tottington next Wednesday.
