DAVID Dunn believes it will be tough to retain the services of Cameron Dummigan beyond his first month on loan.

But the Athletic manager is hoping to sign another promising defender soon.

Burnley right-back Dummigan (19) shone against Sheffield United and Dunn believes he and clubmate Daniel Lafferty have had a major impact on the team since early October.

Both featured in two of the best displays of the season to date, against the Blades and on debut at Gillingham. The duo will be in action again tonight as Athletic bid for a first win in 13 games.

“Danny was excellent against Sheffield United winger Che Adams, and with Cameron everyone can see what a good player he is. I think we will be lucky to keep him, though I certainly hope we can.

“We might be able to sign one for the future this week, which would be good if we can get it done.”

More pressing is tonight’s vacancy left by suspended centre-back Jonathan Burn. With Eoghan O’Connell still undergoing treatment, Timothee Dieng and Brian Wilson are favourites to play alongside James Wilson. Up front, Michael Higdon is eligible again and in contention for a place at the start.

Swindon chairman Lee Power takes temporary charge of team affairs for the first time since Mark Cooper was sacked at the weekend and Dunn expects his players to be fired up.

“I would expect a reaction and that is what we are preparing for,” Athletic’s manager said. “We have watched them a couple of times. They will be dangerous and we certainly won’t underestimate them.
