Proud Oldhamer Alan Wrigley has won the Retail Week Pride of Retail Award 2025 at a glittering ceremony.
The award was presented by TV presenter, comedian and magician Stephen Mulhern.
This is a new award created to bring much-deserved attention to 91-year-old B&Q colleague, Alan Wrigley, from the Oldham store.
Alan's win exemplifies the retail sector’s ongoing dedication to ensuring social mobility and inclusivity are a priority.
Alan was a finalist of the regional Pride of Britain Fundraiser of the Year award 2024 for the northwest.
Alan - who has worked as a greeter at B&Q for the last 20 years - has fundraised over £175,000 in memory of his son for various charities including funding wheelchairs for four children and a child’s Disneyland trip, and for Dr Kershaw’s Hospice and Springhill Hospice.
In recognition of his fundraising attempts over the years, in 2022, Alan was invited to the Queen’s Garden Party at Buckingham Palace where he received a British Empire Medal.
The Retail Week Pride of Retail Award win is yet another celebration of his commitment to help other people and B&Q is proud to have him as a colleague.
