Lyndhurst Primary and Nursery School celebrates latest Ofsted report

Date published: 23 March 2025

Lyndhurst Primary and Nursery School is celebrating its latest Ofsted report, with the school described as having “set out an ambitious curriculum for all its pupils, including those with special education needs and/or disabilities (SEND)”, with pupils “excited to learn new information”.

This year, the school maintained its overall rating of ‘good’ across all ratings, a testament to the commitment of the entire school community, including pupils, parents, staff, and governors.

In a testament to the school’s commitment to its pupils, the report outlined: “In 2024, the school welcomed a number of pupils into Year 1 that had not previously been in school or had been taught in England.

"The school worked effectively with these pupils to give them the help that they needed to catch up with the phonics programme.

"This strategy has been successful.”

The inspection took place in January 2025 and can be read on the Ofsted website.

As part of the school’s efforts to maintain and improve, trustees and the local governing board work closely together and with the school, enabling them to provide targeted support and to challenge the quality of education that pupils receive.

Notably, the report outlined the successful extra activities the school provides for pupils such as the engineering club and the sign language club.

Ewan McPherson, Interim Executive Principal at Lyndhurst Primary and Nursery School, said: “This is a fantastic report for the school that highlights many of the strengths of Lyndhurst.

“It shows that all of the hard work by the children, staff and parents has gone into making a great school.”

Sheila Garara, Chair of Governors at Lyndhurst Primary and Nursery School, said: “We are delighted with the outcome of the recent inspection.

“Our children and families are at the heart of all that we do and the partnership with parents and the commitment of our staff enables our children to achieve well to shape their futures, make lifelong memories, and be ready for life.”

Lyndhurst Primary and Nursery School forms part of Focus-Trust, a charitable primary school trust based in the North West of England and West Yorkshire that aims to provide great schools at the heart of communities where children thrive, achieve, and succeed.
