READY FOR ACTION: Steve Grice shows off his pass for the Olympics soccer.
HEYSIDE Juniors coach Steve Grice is heading to the Theatre of Dreams as a volunteer for the Olympic Games.
Grice will be lending a hand at Old Trafford throughout the tournament, in men’s and women’s football.
Olympics organisers have advised volunteers against talking about the specifics of his role, but Grice cannot wait to get stuck in.
He said: “I got a taste for it back in 2005 when I helped out at the women’s European Championships.
“This is another level because it is the Olympic Games in my home country, which is fantastic.
“I am a Scouser so hopefully that won’t be held against me once I get to Old Trafford!
“I am delighted to be involved, from the opening fixture through to the end of the football tournament.
“It has been a long, drawn-out process — I originally applied in October, 2010 — but the Games are upon us now and I am looking forward to getting started.”
