PUPILS at St Hilda’s C of E primary school sent 90 red and white balloons floating into the sky as part of their Diamond Jubilee celebrations.

The Tilbury Street Oldham school is enjoying national recognition as one of only 17 primary schools to feature in the 465-page Queen’s Official Jubilee commemorative album published by St James’ Palace.

The school was included because of its distinct nature as a Church of England school with an almost entirely muslim population.

It was party time for all Key Stage One pupils from St Hilda’s C of E Primary School who were excited to be part of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations.

In the feature it is referred to as “star of the north” and praised for the work the staff undertake with parents to develop the partnerships between home and school. The publication is being distributed to world leaders and dignitaries as part of the Queen’s Jubilee Pageant.

The book will also feature centre stage in the school’s own Golden Jubilee celebrations, taking place in November this year.

A JUBILEE party rounded off a fantastic week of celebration at Crompton Primary School.
Children decked the school hall with hand-made bunting and watched a presentation showing the Queen on official trips over the past six decades.

Then they tucked into a picnic lunch before witnessing the school’s Street Cheer group put on a special performance during a Diamond Jubilee concert. Display boards brightened up the building while a non-uniform day with a royal red, white and blue theme saw patriotic pupils celebrate.

CHILDREN at Woodhouses Primary School got into a celebratory mood with a special Jubilee lunch.
The school hall was festooned with Union Flag bunting and the tables, with red, white and blue tablecloths, were arranged in the shape of the Union Flag.

Pupils were allowed to dress in patriotic red, white and blue for the day instead of their usual school uniform.

A ROUSING night of brass music raised the roof of the Uppermill Civic Hall to mark the Queen’s 60-year reign. Players travelled from far and wide — including three bands from Switzerland and one from Sweden — for the Diamond Jubilee International Brass Festival.

BARDSLEY-based bakery Park Cake created something red, white and chew for the Diamond Jubilee — special strawberry mini-bites created for Marks and Spencer.
And it was “Queen’s on toast” as Warburtons found a unique way to toast the Diamond Jubilee.

The baker created a 6ft greeting card for special delivery to Buckingham Palace — with a little help from the British public on Facebook. More than 1,000 Warburtons Facebook fans volunteered profile pictures, used to create a mosaic of the Queen during her coronation in 1953.
