Mansell to relocate from Bolton to Oldham

Date published: 05 February 2025

Mansell Building Solutions will soon relocate to a new site in Chadderton.

Currently operating from a site in Horwich, the business requires a facility that better meets its production requirements and provides the capacity needed to play its part in delivering the regional target of 75,000 new homes per year.

Its new sizeable site at Oldham Broadway Business Park is circa 45,000 sq ft and is a modern detached warehouse with offices.

The new operation will enable Mansell to service their current sites across Wigan, Manchester, Trafford, Salford and Stockport, and future sites within Greater Manchester quicker and easier.

Established in 1991, the second-generation family business is now owned and led by Angela and Stephanie Mansell and is the go-to specialist contractor for panelised construction and MMC in the North West of England.

Appointed on a number of frameworks, including Great Places Housing Group's Innovation Chain North (ICN) and the OSHA (Off-Site Home Alliance), Mansell is in the line-up of consultants and contractors delivering new homes needed to meet the Government’s 1.5 million target.

Angela Mansell, managing director at Mansell Building Solutions, said: “Our framework appointments and multiple contract awards for projects currently spread across five Greater Manchester Boroughs (Trafford, Wigan, Salford, Stockport and Manchester) necessitate a facility that better serves our growing needs.

“Alongside manufacturing output in a controlled environment, and enabling us to increase our manufacturing input, we’ll have dedicated areas for CPDs, demonstrations, knowledge sharing, trainees and apprentices; all elements that feed into our ability to provide building certainty.

“We feel a certain synergy with Oldham as it’s a forward-thinking borough under female leadership with a supportive council that openly and actively welcomes business growth, so we’re only too pleased to make it our new home

“We’re also remaining strong to our Greater Manchester roots by staying within the region; a place where we’ve proudly delivered quality buildings for more than 30 years.”

Mansell has committed to a ten-year lease, demonstrating a decade of commitment to its new home in Oldham.

The premises was negotiated by Kuits.

Mansell’s relocation is being supported by Upturn Enterprise Ltd whose CEO, Anwar Ali, is an Oldham Social Enterprise Ambassador.

He said: “SMEs, especially those that are family run, have a unique offer and I’m really pleased they’ll be coming to Oldham.

“The borough was recently named as one of the best places in the UK to start a business and, whilst Mansell isn’t a new company by any means, the relocation will give the firm a fresh start to build on its super strong foundations created over its 34 years of operation.”

Operating across the UK, Mansell is a specialist contractor for panelised construction and MMC and has worked on a range of residential and commercial schemes within its heartland of Greater Manchester, including Aviva Studios, five affordable Passivhaus schemes in Salford and a trio of apartment blocks on a brownfield site by Rochdale Canal in Newton Heath.
