ALFIE Barlow-Wood may only be six but he's already a little charity champion with a heart of gold.

Alfie recently set up stall outside his house in Royton selling sweets, toys and things his mum, Nicola, donated to him to raise money for the Bury based Joshua Wilson Brain Tumour Charity.

His efforts generated a fantastic £215 making him a "SuperJosh Thumbraiser".

But it's not the first time he's helped others.

Nicola says he's set up lemonade stalls before, even making his own posters to advertise the event and raised small amounts for charities such as the RSPCA.

"It's mainly through his school Thorp Primary School as they're big on fundraising for charity," said Nicola who is a volunteer for The Joshua Wilson Brain Tumour Charity and will be helping them raise money at this weekend's Parklife Festival, in Heaton Park, where they are the nominated charity.

"Through them he's learned about helping others and he seems to enjoy doing it. We never expected he would raise this much.

"I'm really proud of him, and so is he!"

Alfie had talked to his mum about "SuperJosh" and was so touched by the story that he said he wanted to help.

Dawn said: "I am so delighted with Alfie's amazing achievement. It is so very special when children, particularly those as young as Alfie, want to help other children and help keep Josh's legacy alive."
