Jim McMahon and his family with the OBE
NEWLY-elected Oldham MP Jim McMahon rounded off an amazing year by collecting his OBE at a ceremony at Buckingham Palace.
The 35-year-old Oldham Council leader was given the accolade for “services to the community in Oldham”.
Originally from Miles Platting, Mr McMahon moved to Failsworth when he and his partner Charlene were expecting their first son, Jack, who is now 13. They also now have a second son, Harry (7) and all were with him on Friday when he received his OBE from Prince Charles at Buckingham Palace.
Mr McMahon said: “Only two weeks ago I was elected as an MP and sworn in to Parliament and this really has been an amazing end to a busy year.
“It was a very special family day and I was thrilled Charlene and our sons could be with me. The honour is a recognition that our town is being seen as moving on to a confident future and we must continue to fight for investment and jobs.”
