From blues to flamenco and dayglo punk to New Orleans brass, there's a whole world of music on offer at The Vale in early 2025.
In a crowd-pleasing move, the Mossley arts centre will be welcoming back a host of old favourites including Kyla Brox, Mr Wilson's Second Liners, Loose Articles and Dogshow.
Meanwhile, three of Spain's hottest flamenco artists will also stamp their mark on the venue's stage for the first time.
Tickets start from just £5, with donate what you can tariffs available for every event.
JANUARY
Mossley's own blues legend Kyla Brox, who has been compared to Aretha Franklin, launches the new season on Saturday, January 25, 2025.
A night of soulful blues and R&B sounds, mixing up original songs and covers, is promised by Brox and her band.
Cutting her teeth from her earliest years in her late Ashton-born father's outfit the Victor Brox Blues Train, Brox the younger has been described as 'the finest female blues singer of her generation'.
A regular at The Vale, tickets are selling fast and this gig is likely to sell out quickly.
FEBRUARY
In February, music lovers are invited to spend an evening with internationally renowned flamenco music and dance superstars Ramón Ruiz, Rebecca Ortega, and Natalia Marin.
In an event called Fuego, Sol y Agua (fire, sun and water), the trio will bring the sunny rhythms and vibrant melodies of Andalusia to wintry Mossley.
Leading flamenco guitarist Ramon trained in Seville and is a regular live guest on BBC Radio 3.
He will be accompanied by dancer Rebecca, who has toured and taught internationally and flamenco singer (cantaora) Natalia, who has performed at important flamenco clubs all over Spain, taking the stage alongside big names including José de la Tomasa.
Fuego Sol y Agua is on Saturday, February 15, 2025.
Specialising in discordant, hypnotic repetition, tales of boozy nights out, and radical politics, Loose Articles return to The Vale on Saturday, February 22, 2025.
A punk quartet with plenty to say, their music speaks to all those determined to get through the age of austerity with tongue in cheek, pint in hand, and two feet firmly on the dancefloor.
Plying repetition with ragged edges and a sardonic, sarcastic drawl delivered with fierce, in your face, punk-fuelled attitude, both feminine and threatening, Loose Articles are here to make a point.
MARCH
And on Saturday 22 March 2025, Mr Wilson's Second Liners will be supported by Liverpool's Dogshow.
Paying homage to the diehard days of the Hacienda, 90s club culture and its greatest hero, Tony Wilson, the Second Liners deliver an endearing and addictive New Orleans brass meets 90s Manchester club classics vibe.
Proudly stepping out in uniformed style, they channel the spirit of Manchester’s 24 hour party people and get audiences dancing wherever they play.
Support comes from canine-headed brothers Laurie and Sam Crombie, on their second visit to The Vale, after supporting HENGE in 2024.
The founders of Liverpool's Kazimier club, Dogshow, are on a mission to create the ultimate party experience, and might accidentally be the most surreal band you’ll witness anytime soon.
Fusing live techno, jazz, dance and musicianship, their show comprises a battery-powered dog trolley in the
centre of the audience.
Johnny Clifford, programming manager at The Vale, said: "New year, new tunes and a very exciting new live music programme at The Vale.
"It's totally eclectic, drawing on sounds from around the globe.
"Live performance is the bread and butter of the industry, and if everyone makes it their new year's resolution to go to more live gigs, we will protect the livelihood of the musicians who we rely upon to make us dance, think, laugh, cry and truly feel alive."
