student Rebecca Ireland landed dream internship in Manchester and Dubai
A STUDENT from Shaw was selected for an internship most can only dream of: jetting off to Dubai to work with a public relations firm.
Rebecca Ireland (21) is studying for a masters degree in PR at Manchester Metropolitan University and beat other student hopefuls to the internship.
The former Crompton House School and sixth form pupil applied for the position with Manchester-based Brazen PR. She spent five weeks in Manchester and one in Dubai helping the managing director prepare for upcoming pitches.
She said: “It has been a brilliant opportunity for me working with Brazen. I’ve developed new skills through the experiences and got to work in an international setting.
“In Dubai, I was able to carry out research, draft copy and create social media content, while in Manchester I have been assigned two accounts to help with.
“It is such an invaluable experience and it complements what I’ve been learning on the course.”
Rebecca graduated in English language and sociolinguistics from Lancaster University before choosing postgraduate study in Manchester.
She is due to finish shortly and is gearing up for the final leg of her degree, before getting started on a career in PR.
