winners: the Radiography Team at The Christie at Oldham with their award
THE radiography team at Oldham’s Christie hospital offshoot has been named North-West Team of the Year by the Society and College of Radiographers.
Opened in March 2010, The Christie at Oldham is a £17 million radiotherapy centre which allows cancer patients from Oldham and the surrounding areas to be treated closer to home.
Team members received their award at the House of Commons.
Julie Davies, lead radiographer at the centre, said: “Each and every one of the team goes above and beyond to provide quality care. As a team we are extremely proud and honoured to accept.”
The centre treats 70 to 80 patients a day with two state-of-the-art £1.3 million radiotherapy machines at its base at the Royal Oldham Hospital.
