CHADDERTON Neighbourhood Police are wheely happy with the latest addition to the team — a brand new bike.
It has been donated by local printing company RR Donnelly, Chadderton, and it’s hoped it will improve the service officers deliver to all members of the community.
Jimmy Grennan, from RR Donnelly, handed over the bike to PCSO Christine Gee.
He said: “As a member of the local Business Watch scheme, we have developed a good relationship with the police, and PCSO Gee in particular. By donating this bike we are showing our support to the neighbourhood team as well as the wider community.”
Chadderton area inspector Dave Willcocks said: “This bike is a real asset to the team as it will enable PCSO Gee to patrol communities more easily and respond to incidents more quickly while still remaining accessible to the public.
“Bikes give officers the advantage of being able to sneak up quietly on suspected criminals as well as the ability to get to places that cars can’t reach, such as parks and back alleyways.”
