A HOMELESSNESS charity has announced the date for a day-long celebration as it marks its 20th anniversary.
Emmaus Mossley will hold a Birthday Bash Saturday, September 16 to mark 20 years since the opening of its community building at Longlands Mill.
The charity is currently home to 26 companions who are formerly homeless people who live and work at Emmaus Mossley.
These 26 individuals contribute to the charity's in-house social enterprise - a Secondhand Superstore - where they sort donations, help in the charity shop, upcycle items and refurbish furniture.
President of Emmaus UK Terry Waite CBE is one of several special guests who will be attending their important celebratory event.
Mr Waite said: "I am very much looking forward to visiting Emmaus Mossley again, a community with which I have very fond memories of since its early beginnings in 1997.
"Their anniversary will be a great celebration for all the community to enjoy and I look forward to meeting old friends and supporters of Emmaus."
The special celebration includes a programme of music and activities for all ages.
Live music, food stalls, a vintage sale, raffle and charity auction are among the planned activities at Longlands Mill between 10am and 4pm.
Shop Manager at Emmaus Mossley Hazel Hodkinson said: "Our community is looking forward to celebrating this significant landmark at Emmaus Mossley.
"We have some fantastic entertainment lined up including special guests, local musicians and lots of activities for kids to enjoy.
"As the event draws near we will be announcing more details so do keep an eye on our website and social media feeds."
